WELCOME! I’M AMBER, CPM, LM, MSc

Clinical Director of Journey Birth Center

Amber is a certified professional midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives and licensed midwife in Texas and has a Master of Science in Advanced Midwifery Practice from Anglia Ruskin University. With an education as a midwife and background as a doula and childbirth educator, as well as  mom of 8 (yes, eight) children, she brings a wealth of childbirth knowledge to the table.  Amber’s 8 children were all natural births with midwives; each was a very different yet equally sacred experience—one was even born in a third world country with a missionary midwife.  The tender support given to her during each birth ignited a desire to serve women through their journey of childbirth as a midwife herself.  She believes in women’s bodies and their ability to give birth the way it was designed.  She also believes in a woman’s right to decide how and where she wants to give birth, be encouraged in that choice and given every opportunity to make it happen as she desires in the healthiest, safest way possible.  She also believes in informed consent and being an informed consumer—every couple has the right to be educated about birth and to make their own decisions based on information and facts.

Amber is married to Weston, who serves as a pastor of a local church.  Before moving back to the USA, they served as missionaries in Egypt for 5 years.  Amber also has birth experience interning at a missions birth clinic in the Philippines for impoverished women, and has visited birth centers in Haiti and Madagascar.

"It is her heart’s desire to journey with couples through their own unique birth experiences, offering encouragement and support to achieve the best, safest, most comfortable and positive experience possible."

Amber's Training & Experience

In 2012, Amber began her midwifery academics and in 2013 began her first internship in the Philippines where she trained at a birth center for impoverished women.  In 2014, she and her family returned to the USA where she began birth assisting with midwives while continuing her midwifery academic training.  Amber also became a birth doula and assisted women both in and out of hospital births while continuing to birth assist and train with local midwives in home birth and birth center settings.  She also became a certified Birth Boot Camp instructor.  Amber completed her clinical requirements to open her own private practice in January, 2017.  She has a Master of Science degree in Advanced Midwifery Practice from Anglia Ruskin University and maintains certification with the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support and CPR for healthcare professionals (AHA BLS), and in neonatal resuscitation (AHA/AAP NRP) and has attended over 700 births since 2012.

Amber is a certified clinical preceptor for The National College of Midwifery and Mercy in Action College of Midwifery to facilitate clinical training for the student midwives working on their degrees. In addition, she has completed the following courses and workshops among many others: Birth Support as Disaster Relief, Global Midwifery: Listen First, Suturing for Midwives, Global Midwifery Skills, Venipuncture and IV skills, Cultural Competency and Respect in the Provision of Maternity Care; Twins, Breeches, and ECV; Resolving Shoulder Dystocia; Expect the Unexpected: Midwives Handling Complications in Out of Hospital Settings; Helping Babies Breathe; and many others.

Kirby

Staff Midwife

Kirby has a passion for serving women through midwifery. During her time in college, she was inspired to work with women through the intimate and life-changing experience of pregnancy and childbirth. She embraced midwifery because it allows her to holistically care for mothers and their families anywhere in the world.

Kirby earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma, where she was first introduced to midwifery. After graduating, she pursued a Biblical studies and discipleship program, where she felt called to a life of service and mission work. She soon realized that midwifery could be a powerful way to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of women and families around the world, and pursued her midwifery degree with the National College of Midwifery.

Since then, Kirby has gained hands-on clinical experience through training in Oklahoma, the Republic of Congo, and the Philippines. Working closely with women in need, she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of compassionate care. These experiences deepened her passion for missionary midwifery, solidifying her commitment to serving mothers and families across cultures. After spending several years at a missions maternity clinic in Asia, she has begun a new part of her midwifery Journey in coming to Texas!

She is BLS and NRP certified and has completed specialized training in breech birth, waterbirth, and VBAC support. Kirby believes that birth is a natural part of life and that God has uniquely designed women with the ability to bring forth life. She is passionate about educating and empowering families, ensuring they feel informed and confident in their childbirth journey.

When she’s not serving through midwifery, Kirby enjoys reading, outdoor activities, and traveling to visit friends and experience different cultures.

Megan

Staff Midwife

Megan is a compassionate and dedicated midwife with hands-on experience in providing holistic, evidence-based care to women throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postnatal period. Skilled in supporting both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, she is committed to empowering women and families through education, emotional support, and respectful care.

Megan is originally from Scotland and holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Midwifery from the University Of Robert Gordon.  Megan’s clinical background spans hospital, birth center, and community settings, with a strong focus on continuity of care and cultural sensitivity. Since then, Megan has expanded her experience by practicing in the USA, where she has worked in diverse settings and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support women. Across both countries, what has remained constant is her commitment to providing individualized care that honors each person’s unique experience of pregnancy and birth.

Megan is BLS and NRP certified and has received specialized training in managing obstetric emergencies. She is also trained in breech birth, waterbirth, VBAC support, and natural relaxation techniques. These skills allow her to support a wide variety of birth choices while ensuring safety and readiness in any situation.

Outside of midwifery, Megan is married to Jamie and together they are raising their two daughters. Both born at a birth center just 11 months apart, those intense, transformative early years gave her firsthand insight into the physical, emotional, and mental demands of childbirth and early motherhood.

Midwifery, to her, is not just a career, it’s a calling. It’s about walking alongside families during one of the most powerful times in their lives, and doing so with compassion, skill, and a deep respect for the strength of women. She believes in meeting people where they are — with respect, kindness, and without judgement.

Rachel, CPM, LM, BsM

Staff Midwife

Rachel is a certified professional midwife through NARM and licensed in Texas. With a long background in birth work and midwifery education, one of her favorite things about being a midwife is being able to walk alongside families through one of the most important times in their lives–helping them to realize that they are capable, and that they have what it takes to bring forth and nurture new life.

Rachel is married to Adam, who is a programmer in educational software. Together they have four children. As a family, they have spent much of their time traveling and trotting the globe; they feel the Lord has given them “nomad” hearts in that they have ministered, visited, and lived in 10 different countries worldwide. Rachel loves to meet new people and looks forward to meeting you!

Rachel was born into the birth world in 2010, when she became a certified birth doula. She worked as a birth assistant in two of the most prominent birth centers in Orange County, CA. She became well versed in hospital, birth center, and home birth practices and had the extraordinary opportunity of welcoming hundreds of new lives into the world.

In 2015, Rachel and her family packed up and moved to the Philippines where she began her education, ministry, and work as a midwife. While abroad, Rachel had the chance to practice at two very busy maternity clinics.

After 2.5 years in Asia, it was time to move back to America. Rachel completed her stature licensure to practice in the USA. She worked at a birth practice in Arizona until recent adventures brought her family to Texas.

Rachel is a graduate of both Newlife International School of Midwifery and National College of Midwifery. She holds a BA in Cross Cultural Communications from Bethany Global University and a BSM in Midwifery. She maintains a certificate with the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for healthcare professionals, as well as a certificate with the American Academy of Pediatrics in neonatal resuscitation (AAP NRP).

Georgia

Staff Midwife

Georgia is a graduate of the National College of Midwifery and has been serving families at a missions birth center in the Philippines since 2022. She brings a wealth of experience, deep compassion, and a calm presence to her practice. Originally from the picturesque coast of Atlantic Canada, Georgia was raised on an island where her love for the outdoors—and for working with her hands—first began. Whether she’s quilting, sipping coffee, or exploring a new handicraft, Georgia brings creativity and warmth to everything she does. She relocated from most recently working at a birth center in Minnesota and is excited to be in Texas at JBC!

Kassidy, CPM, LM

Staff Midwife

Kassidy first began her career in healthcare as an EMT working on anabulance for 3 years and then as a surgical recovery technician in a hospital. Her passion for helping women in labor, along with her own birth experiences, led her to become a certified doula and then pursued her degree in midwifery. She studied at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery while completing all clinical requirements at Journey Birth Center. One of her favorite things about this careerfield is performing meaningful work to improve the health outcomes of mothers and their babies. She is also a certified lactation counselor and childbirth educator and maintains current certification with the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for healthcare professionals (AHA BLS), as well as a certificate with the American Academy of Pediatrics in neonatal resuscitation (AAP NRP).

Kassidy is married to an Air Force veteran and they have five children together. Kassidy is a Colorado native, but spent several years in Arizona and Idaho where her husband was stationed. After leaving the military, they felt like the Lord called them to Texas so that Kassidy could finish her midwifery degree requirements at Journey Birth Center. She enjoys snowboarding, playing soccer competitively, hiking, riding horses, and spending time outdoors with her family. Kassidy looks forward to continuing educating and serving women through their pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum as a midwife.

AdminISTRATIVE TEAM

Bailey

Office Hostess

Bailey has long been fascinated by babies and the miracle of childbirth. She is drawn to the beauty of bringing new life into the world and wanted to be part of helping families during such a special season.

After being introduced to Journey Birth Center, Bailey fell in love with the birth center model. She discovered that natural, out-of-hospital birth can be a safe and empowering option for many women, and she found that the personalized care, peaceful environment, and Christ-centered approach helped change her perspective—showing her how beautiful and intentional birth can be, and motivating her hope that more families can experience it.

Bailey is currently working toward her doula certification, with a long-term goal of continuing her education to become a sonographer. She is passionate about learning and growing so she can continue supporting women and families throughout their pregnancy and birth journeys.

Above all, Bailey is a follower of Jesus Christ, and her faith is the foundation of who she is. She loves seeing how God designed pregnancy, birth, and motherhood with purpose and beauty, and she is grateful to combine her faith with her passion for birth—deepening her appreciation for the miracle of life and the Creator who made it all.

Kamryn has had a passion for childbrith since having the opportunity to watch the birth of her youngest brother at 17 years old. She is a follower of Jesus, a sister and best friend to 3 little brothers, and loves being in the presence of the miracle of childbirth. She has years of nursing training and is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation, CPR, and a certified doula. She is a native Houstonian and loves living near her closely knitted family. Brianna

Billing Manager

Brianna has a bachelor’s degree in communications and has been working in media and management for nearly a decade. But what really makes her heart sing is when she can use her skills to help others on their life journeys.  To Brianna, God and family are what comes first, and she loves that JBC embodies that belief. She loves being part of a team of women who are committed to helping other women and families achieve their desires in what is one of the most precious journeys a woman will travel–giving birth to a child.
Brianna is also a voice actress, and can be heard on many animated films and audiobooks.
Outside of work, Brianna loves the theatrical arts and can often be found on stage at various community theatres. One of her favorite hobbies is caring for her giant tank of tropical fish. Student Midwives & Birth Assistants

Hunter

Childbirth Class Instructor

Hunter Clayburn is a follower of Jesus, a wife, a mom to three amazing children, a homeschool teacher, and a supporter of women in birth. She became a doula in Denver, CO in 2013 following the birth of her second child. Later, her family moved to Houston where she continued her birth worker journey. In 2015, she became a trained midwives’ assistant. Hunter loves supporting women as they begin and grow their families. She loves encouraging women that “this is hard but you can do this” versus the often repeated “you can’t do birth, it’s too hard”. Knowing that when families begin this new stage with encouragement and support, they bond easier and feel more capable when there are hard moments in their parenting journeys.

Kaylie

Birth Assistant

Kaylie has always loved the idea of natural birth and the miracle of life. When Kaylie was introduced to birth work, she fell in love with it and believes God has given her a heart to serve and to remember the beautiful design He gave us. She specifically enjoys supporting women as they learn just how strong they are & how amazing the purpose of motherhood is! Pursuing a career in midwifery allows Kaylie to educate, inform and encourage families throughout the journey of pregnancy, labor/delivery & postpartum. She is a follower of Jesus, a daughter, and a sister to three brothers. She has past experience as a Patient Care Technician, and is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and Basic Life Support. While working as a staff birth assistant at JBC, she is working on her midwifery degree at Mercy in Action College of Midwifery.

Kelseigh

Birth Assistant

Kelseigh is a wife, mom, and follower of Christ who feels genuinely called by God to walk alongside women and families during the sacred journey of pregnancy and birth. Her heart for birth work began when she was young, always watching over her pregnant aunts and baby cousins, and it deepened even further during her own pregnancy. Through self-education, she experienced an empowered birth that reshaped her life and sparked a passion to help other women feel that same strength, confidence, and peace.

Kelseigh completed DONA doula training and brings hands-on birth experience, a calm presence, and a nurturing spirit to the families she serves. She also joyfully serves in her church’s preschool ministry, which continues to fuel her love for caring for little ones.

She feels incredibly thankful for every family who welcomes her into their story and allows her to be part of their journey as they bring their babies earthside. Birth and motherhood are beautiful gifts from God, and it is her honor to support each family with warmth, encouragement, and respect.

Natalie

Birth Assistant

Natalie’s love for birth began early, rooted in a deep reverence for life and a belief that God has thoughtfully and beautifully designed women to give birth. As a Christian, she views birth work as both a calling and a place of service, walking alongside families with encouragement, education, and steady support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Natalie is currently attending the Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery College. She comes from a close-knit family and values the support and connection that community brings—something she strives to reflect in her care for others. Outside of birth work, Natalie plays in her church orchestra and enjoys cooking and baking for those she loves. She is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and Basic Life Support and is honored to serve as a birth assistant at the birth center.

Aniya

Birth Assistant

From a young age, Aniya felt called to support families in birth, initially dreaming of becoming a labor and delivery nurse—until a home birth video shifted everything, revealing that her true path was midwifery. Rooted in her Christian faith, she began pursuing doula certification and seeking mentorship, knowing birth work was both a calling and a ministry. Aniya is dedicated to assisting mothers and their families through the transformative experience of childbirth. When she is not helping others, she is studying, spending time with her family, or at church. Aniya is also a birth and postpartum doula as well as a childbirth educator.

Jamie

Student Midwife

Jamie started her birth journey in 2015 soon after marrying her husband, and her family has since grown to 7! She has a Bachelors in Human Science, is licensed as a Pharmacy Technician, and is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation. After her first birth resulted in C-section, Jamie began learning more about natural birth.  Despite the “once a cesarean always a cesarean” notion, Jamie successfully joined the growing community of vaginal births after a cesarean, also known as VBACs, with her next four children, all born with midwives!  This led to her passion for educating and encouraging women who have had a cesarean to pursue VBAC if that is their desire! Since experiencing her own VBAC, she has grown to love the birthing experience even more and wants the same for other women! Jamie has also begun her journey to becoming a midwife and attends Mercy in Action College of Midwifery working towards her degree.
Aside from being a wife, a mother of 5, and homeschooling, Jamie loves to serve in her community, her church, play guitar, and be active.

DaJa

Birth Assistant

DaJa has been fascinated with birth since she learned about her own sister’s home birth experience! She has since attended many births and currently serves several families as their birth doula. She is a certified breastfeeding counselor, perinatal nutrition counselor, and is certified in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation. DaJa is a native of Colorado Springs, CO, but since moving to Texas, she is enjoying serving the community here at Journey Birth Center. She loves Jesus, serving at her church, and making homemade chapstick and body butter in her free time!

Amanda

Birth Assistant

Amanda brings experience from healthcare and a deep passion for women’s health. Originally from California’s Central Coast, she earned a degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. After a brief time in research, Amanda pursued nursing to become a registered nurse where she worked in various roles including medical-surgical, forensic, and birth assisting. Her journey in healthcare has deepened her passion for supporting women during birth, and she has found immense fulfillment in providing care in a setting where families have so much more freedom to write their own birth story.

She is now based in Houston with her husband, a Space Force veteran, and their young daughter. Amanda is honored to support families through the birth process and looks forward to being part of the sacred experience of growing your family with tender loving care every step of the way.

Maddie

Birth Assistant

Maddie has always loved the beauty and intricacy of birth. She attended two and a half years of Nursing school at Lee University in Tennessee with every intent on graduating and going straight into working in the birth world. However, after many hours in the hospital doing clinicals in the mother/baby and labor and delivery units, she realized the hospital setting was not for her. Maddie fell in love with the holiness of birth, but there was so much more she wanted to give. She wanted freedom for moms to let their birth story be what they wanted. She wanted to get to walk alongside them in their birth story and not just pop in every once in a while to check vitals. She wanted labor to be intimate and intentional. She wanted so much more. Since then, Maddie changed her path and moved to Texas to pursue being a doula and a birth assistant, where she gets to do and experience everything her heart has always desired and use the training she received as knowledge and tools to better serve and love.

Hailey

Student Midwife

Hailey has been drawn to the miracle of birth as long as she can remember. As the oldest of 5 children, she appointed herself a pseudo momma at a very young age and loved every minute of it. She graduated from Mississippi College in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Communication and a minor in Psychology. In college she spent time in Haiti leading teams and volunteering with different village clinics including a maternity home which only increased her belief in the brave strength found in every woman. Hailey is a certified doula through Birth Boot Camp and also maintains Neonatal Resuscitation Certification. She has attended births at homes, birth centers, as well as hospitals and says it continues to be an absolute honor and privilege to be a part of such holy experiences. When not attending births, Hailey often spends her time with busy hands writing, baking, arranging flowers, and planning for her summers on leadership at Beloved and Beyond– a camp for children/adults with special needs.

Kamryn

Birth Assistant & Front Desk

Kamryn has had a passion for childbrith since having the opportunity to watch the birth of her youngest brother at 17 years old. She is a follower of Jesus, a sister and best friend to 3 little brothers, and loves being in the presence of the miracle of childbirth. She has years of nursing training and is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation, CPR, and a certified doula. She is a native Houstonian and loves living near her closely knitted family. Kamryn enjoys serving in her church, going to the theather, baking, being outside, and spending time with her dear family and friends. She feels honored to serve the wonderful families at JBC.
